    I’d switch it around to something like this:

    From garage bands to famous bands, many acts would not be here today if it weren’t for Metallica.

    or something along those lines.

    Hmm, I would agree with you; sounds more correct. Or if you just want to keep it simple, just make it “However, many bands would not be here today if it wasn’t for Metallica: famous bands to garage bands.”

    For metallica many famous bands and that isnt quite right without context this is not an english exam just something.
    An english exam just something to satisfy the music teacher if it wasnt for metallica many famous bands and that isnt quite right without the colon is unwarranted make new sentence ie without.
    An english exam just something to satisfy the leadership of you.
